"Everybody can learn the violin": Ardis Billey has long made hers this quote from this beautiful movie "Music of the Heart" featuring Meryl Streep as a very much inspiring violin teacher in East Harlem. Strongly inspired by the Dr Suzuki method, constantly completed by her own personal experience, Ardis has initiated to violin hundreds of students at the Cleveland Institute of Music, Agnon school, Menlo Park Academy, as well as in her own studio.
Twinklers - Ages 4+ Students will learn basic posture on the practice violin, the bow hold on the practice bow, and the foundation for playing the violin. All the classes require parental participation and for the parent to be “home teacher”. This class is great fun for the child and parent to learn together to master the beginning steps. This prepares them for their first violin. Students will be sized for their instruments in class. Students will work with the instrument and bow to prepare for playing the Twinkle Variations. Parents participation is required for this class. Ardis Music Studio will supply each child with the appropriate size training violin. Fiddlefaddle - Suzuki Book 1 & above Violin students that are playing at mid to late book 1 level can play in this fun and exciting fiddle class. Most of the tunes we will learn are Irish, Scottish or old fashioned country fiddle fun! Also, in this class, students will learn fun to play traditional folk songs, popular tunes and even the Beatles' music. Each student should have his/her own violin for this class.
